Hunslet RLFC can today announce that half-back Danny Nicklas has signed a 12-month contract with the club for next season.

Nicklas 27, progressed through the Hull FC academy system before joining York City Knights. He then had a season at Doncaster before rejoining York City Knights and then moving on to Newcastle Thunder in 2017.

Director or Rugby Darren Williams said โ€œDanny has flirted with the semi-professional game since leaving Hull.”

“Heโ€™s a talented playmaker with a good kicking game, he finished the 2018 season player/coach of West Hull ARLFC following his release from Newcastle Thunder.โ€

Nicklas added “This is a new challenge and one that excites me and I can’t wait to get started.

“I’ve flirted with the professional game and finished the season coaching and playing for West Hull.

“I wanted another crack at the semi-pro game and when I spoke to Darren & GT and they told me of their aims and team strengthening for 2019, it was an opportunity that was too good to turn down.

“I’m going to grasp this opportunity with both hands and do my utmost to help the club achieve its goals.”
